They said that Spain will be nothing without having Messi in their team, and they won EURO 2008. They said that was a mistake, that it won’t happen again, and Spain won the 2010 World Cup. They said that Spain got rusty and boring, that Germany will kick them sooo bad this year. And still, Spain won EURO 2012. And became (probably, very close with Pelé‘s Brasil from the 60′s) the best football team of all times. So what do the haters have to say now?
By winning the EURO 2012, Spain established some records pretty hard to compete with or overcome. They become the first team in history which managed to win 3 major competitions in a row (2008 EURO, 2010 World Cup, 2012 EURO), the first team which managed to defend their European title, the winning team with only one goal received the whole tournament and the biggest goal difference in a European final, 4. 4:0 against Italy, the revelation of EURO 2012, the team which kicked Germany out.

This final was amazing. We saw an unleashed Spain where everyone did their jobs as they should. If the defense had an hesitation, Casillas was there at the right place in the right moment. The middle was everywhere on the field, moving all the time, giving always solutions to the guy which had the ball, also putting a lot of pressure on the opponent when they didn’t had the ball, forcing Italy to make mistakes. We saw the old Xavi again, with accurate and precise passes (specially the one from Alba‘s goal), Fàbregas and Iniesta having fun with Italy’s defense, an altruist Torres giving the ball to Mata in 1:1 situation with Buffon after he scored too. We saw Alonso and Busquets closing the middle field in front of Italy, without leaving a chance for the awesome Pirlo to do his magic. And of course, Arbeloa and Alba leaving traces on the field’s sides, while Piqué and Ramos made sure that Balotelli won’t have the chances he had with Germany. And it all worked. Perfectly.
So what’s left to say?! Not much. Haters will still hate. Spain will still “bore” us with their might and magic. How long can they do this? No one knows. But what we know is that football have never been better. Or more fair. Spain deserves to win everything as long as they will play like this, as long as they are the “Perfect team“.
